You cannot contemplate the American landscape without thinking about, or thanking, John Muir, the father of America's Natural ethos. He made us realize that one of the best ways to reach God, the clearest way to tune into the Universe, is through nature. He knew that being one with the wilderness is a necessity for all of us and that going into the wild, and appreciating nature, is going home.
